Rich in percussions and rhythms, arab music
is marked mainly by voice - and that originates on the strong
oral tradition of the arabs. There is a very narrow bond between
the movements of the belly dance and the sound of the instruments.
Those of percussion (drums, tambourines) correspond to the
hips; the more melodic ones (flutes) to the heart; and the
harmonicals (fiddles,citharas), to the head.
In Morocco, the word used for music is al-âla, that
